Bhubaneswar: Unnati Bhawan at Satya Nagar in Bhubaneswar has been certified with gold rating by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) under IGBC Green Existing Building Rating System.
According to official sources, it is the first government building to get this rating from IGBC.
The building with built up area of 93,250 square feet houses various organisations under the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) department such as OWSSB, WATCO, JAGA Mission and OUHM.
The building has been designed as a smart building with contemporary look and modern facilities and has adopted several unique green building features in its design and operation.
Designed by Akshay K Beuria and Shailaja of Designers Forum, Bhubaneswar, the building is highly energy efficient with EPI (Energy Performance Index) of 54 kWh/sq.mt/yr.
It also has a rooftop solar power plant with 110 KW installed capacity. It has a DEWATT (Root Zone) waste water treatment system to reuse the treated water in landscaping and also has a 100 per cent rain water harvesting system through underground recharge pit besides other facilities.
