Phulbani: Tension prevailed in a village in Kandhamal district on Sunday as a mob attacked a police team which had gone to raid on a gambling den.
According to sources, Ranjit Kumar Muni, the IIC of Bramhanigaon police station led a team to conduct a raid in Meramaha village under Baliguda block following information about gambling activities.
While the team was returning after the raid, a group of villagers attacked them. The mob also resorted to blank firing. Ranjit sustained multiple injuries in the attack. He has been admitted in a hospital.
Following the incident, a police team led by SDPO conducted a flag-march in Meramaha.
