IIC Transferred After Ex-Defence Personnel Attacks 2 Police Officials In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Three days after a former defence personnel attacked two personnel of a police station in Odisha’s Cuttack district, the Inspector In-Charge (IIC) was transferred on Wednesday.

According to sources, sub-inspector Swambit Swain and constable Uttam Kar of Banki police station in the district had gone to arrest the retired defence personnel, Saroj Das, on October 22 in connection with a case pending against the latter.

Das was enraged by the arrest warrant against him and attacked the two policemen with a sword at Adimata Square in the town. Both police personnel were seriously injured in the incident and admitted to hospital. Later, the injured police SI was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

Following this, IIC Kabuli Barik of Banki police station has been shifted to Bhadreshwar police station in Mahanga in the district. He has been replaced by Shiv Prasad Behera in Banki police station, the sources said.
