New Delhi: Seven IIM Sambalpur students, who topped the first-year examinations, have received Rs 1-lakh scholarships each during a function held to commemorate the institution’s seventh foundation day on Thursday.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to the students to bring a “synergy of modern education with traditional values”.
“A competent workforce is possible only when we have skilled management professionals,” Pradhan said while virtually addressing the function.
Pradhan asserted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is aimed at updating, upgrading and upskilling youth, and transform the education system with emerging dynamics.
According to IIM Sambalpur Director Mahadeo Jaiswal, the work on the permanent campus was under rapid progress and the first phase was likely to be completed by August-December 2022.
Flipkart chief corporate affairs officer Rajneesh Kumar, who was also present virtually, spoke on how the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a fundamental shift in people’s lives and businesses.
Hockey player Amit Rohidas, who was a part of the national team that won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, and renowned Sambalpuri singer Padma Shri Jitendra Haripal were honoured during the function.
