IISER-Berhampur In Odisha Gears Up For Phase IV Of Yuva Sangam; Portal Opens For Registration

Berhampur: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Berhampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district has geared up to kickstart phase IV of ‘Yuva Sangam’ as part of ‘Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat’ campaign.

Speaking to media persons in Berhampur on Thursday, Prof Ashok Kumar Ganguli, Director, IISER said a delegation of 45 students and off-campus youngsters in the age group of 18-30 years from 30 districts of Odisha will travel to Himachal Pradesh for a cultural-cum-educational tour between February 10 and March 15 during the campaign.

While IISER, Berhampur is the nodal higher educational institution (HEI) for this phase of Yuva Sangam, the Central University at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh is the nodal HEI for Himachal Pradesh.

Prof Ganguly said the registration portal https://ebsb.aicte-india.org to participate in the programme was opened on Thursday. The eligible students can register their names till February 4. All the youths in the age group comprising students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, employed/self-employed persons can register their names in the portal.

Under this initiative, the participants will receive comprehensive exposure to Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Tradition), Pragati (development), Paraspar Sampark (people to people connect) and Pradyogiki (Technology).

Yuva Sangam is a unique effort to give strength to the Central government’s “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative which promotes experiential learning and introduces youths to the rich diversity of the country. “Our country’s strength lies in its diversity and there is a lot to see for everybody and know each other. HEIs of various states have been linked to it,” said Prof Ganguly.

The phase IV of Yuva Sangam would provide opportunities for the students in HEIs and the youths of Odisha to have a comprehensive understanding of diverse facets of Himachal which is known for its stunning landscapes, snowcapped peaks, vibrant culture, festivals and warm hospitality. The programme is supported by ministries of Education, Tourism, Youth Affairs and Railways and respective state governments.
