Illegal Firearms Racket Busted In Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Police on Monday busted an illegal firearms racket in Sambalpur district.
A person identified as Mohammad Jahin Khan has been arrested for allegedly possessing the firearms.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted raid at Khan’s house located at Daleipada in the district and recovered 5 firearms and 12 live bullets from the spot.
Khan was involved in the firearm trade since long. He used to source the same from outside the state and supply those to his clients in different places, police sources said.
He has made a wide network of clients and workers to buy and sell the firearms, the sources added.
A number of criminal cases are pending against the accused at different police stations across the district.
