Cuttack: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud on Saturday said he is proudly regarded as the son-in-law of Odisha, emphasising his bond with the state.
“I’m proudly regarded as the son-in-law of Odisha since my wife is a Odia…”, said Justice Chandrachud.
The CJI said this while addressing a national conference on ‘Digitisation, Paperless Courts and e-initiatives’ at Odisha Judicial Academy in Cuttack.
It may be noted here that Justice Chandrachud’s wife Kalpana Das is from Odisha.
Kalpana Das is the second wife of Justice DY Chandrachud. She is also a lawyer by profession and formerly worked with the British Council. Justice Chandrachud’s first wife Rashmi died of cancer in 2007. A few years later he married Kalpana Das.
While speaking on a wide range of issues from paperless courts and virtual courts to Artificial Intelligence (AI) live streaming at the conference, the CJI referred to the infrastructure facilities of judicial system in Odisha. He said Odisha is better equipped than many other states and its efforts are satisfactory.
The CJI had poceeded to Puri for the darshan of the sibling deities at Jagannath Temple after arriving in the Odisha capital on Friday.
