Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition is likely to prevail in several districts of western Odisha and humidity level to rise in coastal areas for next three days.
The regional centre in Bhubaneswar of India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its morning bulletin, has issued yellow warning for Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir and Sambalpur districts in western Odisha for Wednesday and Thursday.
These districts will experience heatwave under the influence of dry and hot wind. The IMD has also forecast heatwave in Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts on Friday.
“Due to a cyclonic circulation over central India, some amount of dry and hot air is entering Odisha resulting in severe heatwave condition in western parts,” said senior scientist Umasankar Das.
Meanwhile, the Met office said the coastal areas of the state will experience high humidity level during the 3 days.
As many as 8 places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius and above on Tuesday. Boudh was the hottest with 42.5 degree followed by Nuapada (42.4), Sundargarh (42), Jharsuguda (41.6), Sambalpur (41), and Baripada, Nayagarh and Jajpur at 40 degree Celsius.
