Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued heavy rainfall warning in 11 interior districts of Odisha.
A mid-day bulletin of the IMD said while a cyclonic circulation lies over north interior Odisha and neighbourhood, a seasonal trough from central Pakistan to east central Bay of Bengal now runs from north Punjab to northwest Bay across Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and north coastal Odisha. Under its influence, there will be heavy rainfall at one or two places in interior and north interior districts.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued orange and yellow warning for the following districts:
June 21
(Orange warning)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bargarh, Balangir and Kalahandi
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh
June 22
(Yellow warning)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, and Jajpur
June 25
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Keonjhar
Although there will be light to moderate rainfall or thundershower at a few places over the districts of Odisha on June 23 and 24, the overall weather in most parts of Odisha will remain dry on these two days, the IMD said.
