Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha as the south-west monsoon covered the entire parts of the state.
In a mid-day bulletin, the IMD said though the low-pressure area over the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining coastal Odisha and neighbourhood has become less marked, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over north interior Odisha and neighbourhood. Besides, a monsoon trough runs from north-west Rajasthan to north interior Odisha across north Madhya Pradesh and north Chhattisgarh.
Under its influence, there will be increased rainfall in most parts of south coastal and interior districts of Odisha till June 17.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the districts on following days:
June 13
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Balangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
June 15
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Balasore and Keonjhar.
June 16
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Nuapada.
June 17
Heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Ganjam.
