IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall In 4 Districts Of Southern Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With southwest monsoon making further advances, the IMD has forecast heavy rain in southern Odisha districts.

In its evening bulletin, the regional centre of India Meteoroogical Department (IMD) said the northern limit of monsoon continues to pass through Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri and Vizianagaram.

The conditions are favourable for further advance of the monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra,
Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 4-5 days.

The IMD forecast that heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nabarangpur during next 24 hours.

It has also issued yellow warning and said thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,
Nuapada and Balangir.

On the other hand, heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore during the period.

Hot and humid condition is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, it added.
