Bhubaneswar: The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in some parts of 8 districts in Odisha on Sunday night.
The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar said light thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Nabarangpur, Malkanagiri, Koraput, Raygada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Ganjam and Nuapada districts in next two and a half hours.
The IMD, in its evening bulletin, also forecast thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi by 8.30 am on Monday.
Heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir and Bargarh during the period.
Similarly, hot and humid condition is likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
The Met office said conditions were favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Odisha in next 4-5 days. The northern limit of monsoon continued to pass through Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri and Vizianagaram, it added.
