IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds From Tomorrow; Check Details

Bhubaneswar: Parts of Odisha are likely to get some relief from severe heatwave conditions from Sunday with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting thunderstorms from May 1 to 5.

The maximum temperatures are likely to decrease by 1-2 degrees Celsius under the influence of the Norwester.

May 1 (Till 8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Heatwave conditions very likely to prevail over Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts. Thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Kendrapara districts.

Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorms very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh districts.

May 1 (8.30 am) to May 2 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Rayagada and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Ganjam districts.

Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorms very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal districts.

May 2 (8.30 am) to May 3 (8.30 am)

May 3 (8.30 am) to May 4 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts.

Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorms very likely to occur at a few places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts.

May 4 (8.30 am) to May 5 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput districts.

Light to moderate rain/ thunderstorms very likely to occur at a few places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts.
