Bhubaneswar: Four districts of southern Odisha are likely to receive very heavy rainfall in next 24 hours, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The regional centre of IMD, in its evening bulletin, issued orange warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts. Forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in these districts, it alerted the people of land slides in vulnerable hilly areas.
The IMD also issued yellow warning for several districts of the state with the forecast of likely heavy to heavy rainfall in next 4 days.
On meteorological features of the weather, the Met office said the cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level persists.
It further said the monsoon trough passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Jabalpur, Pendra Road, Kalingapatnam, cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal and eastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.
