IMD Issues Red Warning For This Odisha Dist Till 6.30PM Today

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for Ganjam district in Odisha till 6.30 pm.

Moderate thunderstorm/lightning along with gusty wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and moderate
remain may affect some parts of the district within 3 hours.

The weather agency has warned of damage to thatched huts, standing crops, banana and papaya trees, power and communication lines due to breaking of branches and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

People have been advised to take shelter in concrete structures instead of trees. Farming operations may be temporarily suspended, it added.

Notably, the IMD has also forecast thunderstorm activity along with gusty surface winds in the state till June 13.

Warnings for June 9

Thunderstorm/ lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Angul

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda.

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Rayagada, Deogarh, and Dhenkanal.
