Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued intense cold wave warning for Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Talking to mediapersons on Wednesday, senior weather scientist of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Sudarshan Mishra said the dry and cold wind blowing from northern Himalayan range has resulted in biting cold across the state. Due to this condition, temperature in most parts of the state has remained below normal.
While the cold wave condition persists in Bhubaneswar, Angul and Titlagarh, there will grow intense in the interior Odisha in the next 24 hours, he further said.
“Keeping the weather condition in view, we have issued cold wave warning in the state. Though the cold wave condition will subside after January 5, the night temperature in most parts of the state will remain below normal,” Mishra said.
Acording to an IMD release on Wednesday, Daringbadi in Kandhamal district was the coldest place at 4 degree Celsius while Phulbani recorded 4.5 degree Celsius.
