Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued intense heat wave warning in interior Odisha in the next 48 hours.
In a release, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said that the temperature will go up by 2-3 degrees in some parts over the nine interior districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Malkangiri, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada and Boudh in the next 48 hours from April 28. The intense heat wave condition will prevail for three days till April 30, the release added.
In view of the gruelling heat wave, the Met Department has advised people to avoid heat exposure and stay indoors during the peak hours of heat.
Meanwhile, the temperature recorded was highest in Titlagarh at 44 degree Celsius while it soared to 40 degree Celsius and above at 11 places in Balangir (42), Jharsuguda (42.2), Bhawanipatna (42), Malkangiri (42), Sonepur (42), Sambalpur (41.9), Hirakud (41.5), Sundargarh (40.5) and Phulbani (40.2).
Besides, the temperature remained close to 40 degree Celsius in Keonjhar (39.7), Chandbali (39), Cuttack (39), Koraput (39), Baripada (38.4) and Bhubaneswar (38.2).
