IMD Issues Orange Warning For Cuttack & 6 Other Odisha Dists Till 3.30 PM Today

Bhubaneswar: The India Metrological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for seven districts of Odisha till 3.30 pm on Thursday.

Light to moderate thunderstorm/lighting accompanied by rain and surface wind speed reaching 40 kmph  may occur at isolated places in Angul, Bargarh, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur and Cuttack districts in next 3 hours.

The nor’wester warning came even as the well-marked low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast concentrated into a depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts this morning. The system is likely to move slowly northwards and cross West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara (Bangladesh) by afternoon, according to the MeT office.

Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 60 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast till May 30. The sea conditions are likely to remain rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea and along and off Odisha coast during this period.
