IMD Issues Orange & Yellow Alerts On Thunderstorm, Gusty Wind In South Odisha By 5PM

Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing heatwave conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning on thunderstorm activity in Odisha till 5.15 pm on Wednesday.

Orange and yellow warnings have been issued for 4 districts.

Moderate thunderstorm/lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of Koraput during the next 203 hours.

The

weather agency has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops in the district. People have advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places.

Similarly, light to moderate thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts.
