Bhubaneswar: Amid the sultry spell, the India Meteorological Department ((MD) on Tuesday predicted a drop in the day temperature by 2-3°C after four days.
According to the midday bulletin, hot and humid conditions may continue to prevail at isolated places in districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati till April 25. There is a warning for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) in the afternoon/evening hours for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on April 21. Similar weather conditions with wind speed of 30-40 kmph may also prevail in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.
On April 22,
thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur. Similar weather conditions may prevail in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati on April 23; Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on April 24 and Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kandhamal on April 25.
The state is likely to experience heatwave and warm night conditions for three days from April 23 during which the mercury may soar to 45°C in Titlagarh, Balangir and Jharsuguda.
Heat wave conditions may prevail at isolated places in the district of Jharsuguda, Balangir and Angul on April 23 and Jharsuguda, Balangir, Kandhamal and Angul on April 24-25. Warm nights are likely in Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Balangir and Sambalpur districts from April 23-25.
There is no warning thereafter, though light to moderate rain or thunderstorm may occur at one or two places in Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri during the subsequent two days.
