Bhubaneswar: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the immersion ceremony procession in Bhubaneswar, which is scheduled to start from 3 pm on Wednesday.
Briefing the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said that special traffic arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the immersion ceremony. “During the procession, traffic will be diverted accordingly to avoid inconvenience to public. The diversions have been made while ensuring no obstruction to vehicles plying on national highways. Traffic arrangements have also been strengthened at the alternate routes,” he said.
The DCP further said that the puja committees have been issued route guidelines for the immersion procession. “The committees at Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli and Chandrasekharpur, where the ‘Medhas’ would congregate, have agreed to start the process at 3 pm. Accordingly, police forces were deployed from 1 pm. The main routes through which the procession are allowed have been barricaded. Senior officers would accompany the Medhas to supervision the procession and resolve problems if any,” he said.
Striking force has also been deployed at three strategic places in Bhubaneswar to immediately respond to emergency situation. “Towing arrangement has been made by the Traffic wing to clear broken-down vehicles on the road obstructing the procession,” Singh said.

Arrangements for drinking water have also been made with the help of WATCO and police have written to Capital Hospital authorities for ambulance, he said.
Arrangements have also been made to allow people to witness the procession along the route, he added.
The DCP said all the puja committees have been told to hire DJs registered in Bhubaneswar and sound limiters have been installed to keep sound pollution under control.

Traffic restriction in Bhubaneswar will continue till round 1 am.
>> For the immersion procession of Bhubaneswar Bhasani Utsav Committee at Saheed Nagar, the traffic, intending to proceed towards Rupali Square from Vani Vihar side, will be diverted from Vani Vihar towards Acharya Vihar.
>> No vehicles will be allowed to ply on Janpath and instead diverted to Sachivalay Marg and other adjacent roads.
>> For the immersion procession of Rajdhani Mandir Suraksha Bhasani Samiti, Nayapalli, the traffic, intending to proceed towards Cuttack from CRP square side, will be diverted from CRP square towards Jaydev Vihar via Ekamra Park and Biju Pattnaik College. The vehicular traffic on Stewart school road, Unit-8 Road, OUAT square-New Airport Road will be diverted on to the adjacent roads.
>> For Uttar Bhubaneswar Vasani Committee, the traffic intending to proceed towards Nalco Square from the KIIT side will be diverted to other adjacent roads from Nandankanan – Jayadev Vihar road.
Heavy vehicles coming from Khurdha side towards Bhubaneswar will be diverted at starting Point of Fire Station overbridge towards the flyover. No vehicles shall be allowed to ply on service road.
