Immersion Procession Of Durga Idols Marred By Group Clash In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The “Bhasani’ (immersion procession) of Durga idols was marred by violence in Bhubaneswar as two groups were engaged in a clash on Wednesday night.

As per reports, the incident took place when the tableau of Rasulgarh Puja Mandap in the city was being taken in a grand procession. While the members of the puja committee and the locals were engaged in the celebration by participating in the procession, a group of miscreants attacked them.

As the locals retaliated, an armed clash ensued between the two groups. Two persons of a group was seriously injured as they were attacked with swords by the rival group members.

As the police failed to bring the situation under control, the enraged locals reportedly locked up Macheswar police station. Tension prevailed in the area and additional police forces were being rushed to the spot to bring law and order under control when the report was filed.
