Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been named in six cases, including three under the Anti-Terrorism Act, for the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the army two months ago.

Imran’s supporters allegedly breached the gates of Pakistan Army’s GHQ in Rawalpindi on May 9, dubbed as a ‘Black Day’ by the military.

Joint investigation teams (JITs) are investigating all the cases, including the attacks on military installations and the incident of arson at a metro station, Pakistan’s Geo News quoted sources as saying.

Three of these cases were registered against the 70-year-old Imran on May 9 and the other three on May 10 under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), Geo News reported.

Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is under scanner after violence erupted across the country on May 9 following the World Cup-winning captain’s dramatic arrest from Islamabad High Court premises in a corruption case.

With the new cases, Imran is facing around 150 cases across the country since being ousted in April 2022.
