Islamabad: Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wish has been granted.
Islamabad High Court has ordered that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman be shifted from Attock district jail to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, Reuters reported.
The high court had sentenced Imran to three years in prison in a corruption case and issued an arrest warrant which said he was to serve his sentence in Rawalpindi central jail.
But Imran, who was arrested in early August, was taken to Attock jail.
Pakistan’s World Cup-winning captain filed a petition seeking transfer from Attock jail to a better-class facility in Adiala jail.
Justice Farooq reserved the verdict on Imran’s transfer application, claiming he would “issue an appropriate order”. But during the hearing, the judge said, “Shift the PTI chairman to Adiala jail”.
Imran’s lawyer said his client had finally been granted a “little bit of justice”.
However, he was dissatisfied that the court had adjourned the hearing on a plea seeking an open hearing of Imran’s bail plea in the cipher case.
