New Delhi: India logged a spike of 24,880 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the country’s tally of positive cases to 7,67,296 on Thursday.
A total of 487 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 infections across the country taking the death toll to 21,129, the Union Health Ministry said.
According to the Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,07,40,832 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far across the nation, including 2,67,061 on Wednesday.
On a positive note, recovery cases (4,76,377) have surpassed the active cases by 2,06,588 with the national recovery rate improving to 61.53 per cent.
However, a research report by Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS), Chennai indicates that the rate of transmission has increased across the country during the first week of the second unlocking phase in July.
