Balangir: For Bhushab Sahu, a paralysed man from a village under Tushura police station in Balangir, reaching the courtroom was not just difficult — it was physically impossible. Yet justice came to him, literally stepping out of the courtroom to meet him where he waited: inside an auto-rickshaw parked outside the court.
The moment unfolded at the Tushura JMFC Court, where Sahu had been summoned in connection with a 2023 case. He arrived on time but, unable to walk or enter the court building, stayed back in the three-wheeler, unsure how to proceed.
When The Judge Walked Out
It was then that JMFC Judge Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, informed by Sahu’s lawyer about the man’s condition, made an unusual but deeply human decision. Instead of insisting that the litigant come inside, the judge walked out of the courtroom, approached the auto-rickshaw, and recorded Sahu’s statement standing beside the vehicle.
There were no formalities, no delays — just a simple act of accommodation that allowed Sahu to take part in the legal process without the strain of moving into the court premises.
A Gesture That Spoke Louder
People in the court corridor said the scene was powerful: the judge, still in his robe, leaned toward the paralysed man sitting in an auto-rickshaw and recorded his statement, instead of making him struggle to enter the court building.
Later, the Tushura Bar Association lauded Judge Siddiqui’s kind gesture towards the ailing man.
