In Ghaziabad Shocker, Bank Manager Shot Dead Inside Branch By Security Guard For Refusing To Grant Leave

Ghaziabad: The bank manager of the Punjab & Sind Bank’s Balram Nagar branch of Ghaziabad was shot dead by the bank’s security guard on Monday afternoon, over a dispute regarding leave.

The incident happened within the bank’s premises around 1.45 pm in the presence of staff and customers.

The manager has been identified as Abhishek Sharma (34) from Lakhipur in Patna, Bihar.

Preliminary inquiry has revealed that the security guard Ravindra Hooda, had been asking Sharma for leave for several days. He allegedly approached the manager about the same issue and this led to a heated altercation.

Hooda then shot Sharma in the chest with his double barrel 12 bore shotgun. The manager collaps

ed to the floor, bleeding profusely. He was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on a bike by the bank staff, where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

CCTV footage shows the guard leaving the bank with with his gun after the incident. Bystanders said that he fled the area on a motorcycle.

“The accused guard is a resident of Baghpat. He had a dispute with manager Abhishek Sharma over leave for a long time. Because of this, he carried out this incident. Teams have been deployed to search for the accused and he will be arrested soon,” Gyan Prakash, ACP, Loni, told the media.

Sharma lived in a rented accommodation with his wife since August 2025, it has been learnt.

The police have come to know that Hooda would seek leave often. He would also remain absent from duty without informing anybody in the bank.

When he failed to report for duty on Monday, Sharma reportedly called up Hooda, asking him to report to the bank immediately. The incident took place after that.

The police have deployed multiple teams to track down the accused a detailed investigation is underway.
