New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrested two notorious female drug peddlers and seized heroin of high purity worth over Rs 5 crore from them. Those arrested have been identified as Seema (54) and her sister-in-law Samita (43). Seema allegedly headed a syndicate and had 10 cases under the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotic Substances (NDPS) Act against her. Samita provided operational support, the police said.
“Seema’s residence was identified as one of the top 64 high-risk drug trafficking hotspots across Delhi, following detailed intelligence gathering and sustained surveillance efforts. Classified as a key node in the city’s narcotics distribution network, her premises served as both a storage and supply point for narcotics,” Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DC(HQ), Crime Branch, Delhi Police, said.
A police team conducted a raid near GTB Hospital, Delhi, and intercepted the two while they were involved in a narcotics transaction. They were apprehended while attempting to supply a consignment of heroin in the Nand Nagri area. A search led to the seizure of 1,049 grams heroin from them.
“Seema would procure high-grade heroin from the Delhi-NCR region, which was then transported and distributed across the North-East Delhi area, with particular focus on Nand Nagri, a known hotspot for narcotics activity,” Yadav added.
According to authorities, Seema has been involved in this racket since 2000. Apart from the cases under the NDPS Act, there are 30 cases against her under the Excise Act. Her two sons also have cases under the NDPS Act against them.
Samita, a resident of Kasturba Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi, also has a criminal background with three cases under the Excise Act and one under the NDPS Act registered against her.
