Cuttack: Here’s an artist’s impression of the proposed makeover of the Maa Chandi temple in Odisha’s Cuttack, for which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a budget of Rs 70 crore.
The makeover will be carried out under the integrated development of heritage, monuments and tourist destination scheme of the state government’s 5T initiative. It will be completed within a year.
A stone boundary wall with four gates will be constructed around the temple premises. A yajna mandap (platform), a Chandipatha mandap, a mundan (tonsuring) mandap, a Hanuman temple, a discourse hall and a kitchen will also be constructed inside the temple area.
Besides, the entire floor of the temple premises will be covered with Khondalite stones. For the convenience of devotees, a Yatri Niwas will be constructed. As many as 18 shops will be set up for displaced shopkeepers.
