[In Pic] Odisha Cameraman Murder: Sarmistha’s Car Spotted In Toll Gate CCTV Footage

Bhubaneswar: Crime Branch officials, probing the sensational murder of cameraman Manas Swain, have identified the car belonging to prime accused Sarmistha Rout from the CCTV footage of a toll gate at Tangi Bandala in Cuttack district.

The car crossed the toll and drove towards Chandikhol at around 12.08 am on February 9 and returned at around 1.59 am, Crime Branch sources said.

The Crime Branch has collected photos of the car and other evidence from the toll plaza cameras. After burying Swain’s body in Nayagarh, the accused allegedly threw all his belongings in Chandikhol. Crime Branch sources alleged that the accused tried to destroy crucial evidence during this trip.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch plans to conduct a Test Identification (TI) parade of five accused in the case.

ADG Sanjeeb Panda said the Crime Branch has sought the court’s permission for custodial interrogation of two accused and TI parade of five accused.

The Chandbali JMFC court on Wednesday recorded the statement of Dayal Ashram caretaker under Section 164 of CrPC. The statements of three witnesses had been recorded earlier.
