Bhubaneswar: The vast collection of handicrafts and handlooms products on display in the stalls at Toshali National Crafts Mela, Janata Maidan here, has been attracting people in large numbers.
The 16th edition of the mela was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday. State Handlooms and Textiles Minister Padmini Dian along with other dignitaries was present at the fair ground.
The fair is a confluence of exquisite collection of products designed by master craftsmen and artisans from all over the country.
This year, a total of 390 handlooms and handicrafts stalls have been set up. As many as 150 weavers and artisans are participating in it.
The theme pavilion of this year is dedicated to Kendrapada’s Kaincha (golden grass) craft. The fair will remain open from 3 pm to 10 pm in view of the prevailing heat.
The fair also has a food court where 30 stalls have been set up offering Odia and cuisines of other states. Special arrangement has been made for differently-abled and elderly people while a special baby care room has been created for new mothers and infants.
Mukteshwari Baghel, wife of Chief Minister of Chattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, visited the fair on Tuesday. Subroto Bagchi and his wife Susmita Bagchi attended the Tuesday event as chief guests.
