Bhubaneswar: Protesting against the deteriorating law and order situation in Odisha, the BJP on Tuesday held demonstrations at AG Square, Palasuni, Jayadev Vihar, Khandagiri and Samantarapur in Bhubaneswar.
The saffron party is also demanding Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s resignation over the alleged pre-scripted murder of Health Minister Naba Das, which they feel could start a dangerous trend of systemic elimination of potential political threats. The party further alleged that the way sensational murder cases are being handled by the Crime Branch point to the fact that the government has no control over its law and order machinery.
Similar dharnas will be staged at all district headquarters of the state on February 15 and near Raj Bawan, the following day, demanding the dismissal of the BJD government. The party will also submit a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Governor.
Notably, the three-day agitation in the state coincides with the same dates the ruling party has planned to protest the Centre’s neglect of Odisha in the Union Budget.
