Bhubaneswar: The residence of President elect Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi wore a festive look as prominent BJP ministers and leaders made beeline to congratulate her on Thursday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and national president of BJP JP Nadda were among the first to congratulate Murmu at her residence.
“Droupadi Murmu has reached the highest office of the nation facing difficult circumstances, it shows the immense power of our democracy. Even after so many struggles, the selflessness with which she dedicated herself in the service of the nation and society is an inspiration to all. I am sure that Murmu’s tenure as the 15th President of India will make the country proud,” said Shah.
Tribal dance troupes from different parts of the country also landed there and performed as part of celebration. Murmu is the first tribal woman leader to be elected as President of the country.
