London: The Indian women added a historic chapter to the storied legacy of the iconic Lord’s, considered to be the ‘Home of Cricket’.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s girls were far too superior as they hammered hosts England by 270 runs on Monday.

What made the occasion even more special for the team was the presence of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar at the stadium. The record run-scorer in men’s Test cricket met the team and gave them a pep talk before play started on the final day, and then stepped out to the hallowed turf to congratulate the girls at the end of the match.

It took the women in blue a little under two hours on the fourth and final morning to wrap up a famous victory.

England women, resuming on 130/6 in pursuit of a massive 457-run target, were bowled out for 186 in their second innings.

Off-spinner Sneh Rana finished with figures of 4/42, while Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare and Deepti Sharma bagged 2 wickets each.

Pacer Kranti was adjudged Player of the Match for her match haul of 7/91.
