Sambalpur: The Hirakud Dam authorities opened 12 more gates of the reservoir on Monday following an increase in water level due to incessant rain in the upper catchment areas of the Mahanadi.
The water level in the dam was recorded 615.41 ft against the optimal storage capacity of 630 ft.
The average inflow and outflow of water were recorded at 2, 40,079 cusecs entering the dam against an outflow of 1, 93,453 cusecs per second.
