Bhubaneswar: Incessant rain over the past two days has triggered flood-like situation in many parts of the state, throwing normal life out of gear.
The continuous downpour has wreaked havoc in Kalahandi district as communication of nearly 15 villages in Lanjigarh block has been disrupted as several roads in the region submerged in water.
Meanwhile, rainwater entered into many villages in Dharmagarh and Junagarh areas of the district as the water levels rose in Hati and Tel rivers.
“Keeping the situation in view, arrangements have been made to provide dry foods and tarpaulin to people in the areas affected by flash floods. All measures will be taken to tackle the situation”, an official from the district administration said.
The situation in Ganjam district is also grim as rainwater entering into several houses and farmlands in low-lying areas at Kabisuryanagar and Aska. Many families in the district were forced to take shelter in nearby school buildings and houses of their relatives.
On the other hand, a 50-feet wall near the Markendaya pond in Puri collapsed following incessant rainfall.
Besides, road communication between Paikadakulguda and Thuapali panchayats has also been completely cut-off due to heavy rainfall since last evening.
