Bhubaneswar: Teachers in Odisha have appealed to the state government to follow the “democratic tradition” of consulting them while taking important decisions related to education.
Besides leading teachers’ unions in Odisha, student organisations, parents and educators echoed the call at a virtual meeting of All Odisha Aided College (488 Category) Teachers’ and Employees’ Association recently.
The participants said the Odisha government has formed an expert committee to determine alternative valuation methods after the cancellation of the Plus II examinations. However, the government didn’t consult teachers, students and academicians before making such an important decision, they added.
The participants in the meeting have decided to submit various proposals on alternative assessment methods to the state government.
