Income Tax Portal Glitches: Anti-National Slur On Infosys

Infosys has been under fire for repeated glitches in the Goods & Service Tax (GST) and Income Tax portals, which left the Central government red-faced.

Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in fact, summoned Infosys MD & CEO Salil Parekh a few days ago and expressed her deep disappointment with the IT services company.

Now, Panchjanya — the weekly magazine associated with RSS — has blasted Infosys for the glitches which has come in the way of a user-friendly and easier way of e-filing IT returns.

The magazine has carried a four-page cover story on the Bengaluru-based company with Infosys founder Narayana Murthy’s picture on it and a headline reading ‘Saakh Aur Aghaat’ (Reputation and Damage).

The article criticises Infosys’ handling of the project and wonders whether any “anti-national power is trying to hurt India’s economic interests through it.”

The magazine describes Infosys as ‘Unchi Dukan, Phika Pakwaan’ (great cry and little wool) and notes that regular glitches have brought down the “trust of taxpayers in the Indian economy.”

The scathing article says: “Due to glitches in both GST and Income Tax return portals developed by Infosys, the taxpayers trust in the country’s economy has taken a hit. Is it that any anti-national force via Infosys is trying to hurt India’s economic interests.”

The magazine goes on to say that it doesn’t have any concrete evidence to back the allegation, but adds that the company has been accused many times of helping the “Naxalites, leftists and tukde-tukde gangs.”
