Indefinite Economic Blockade Affects Goods Transportation In Rourkela

Rourkela: Irked over pollution caused by sponge iron factory, the members of Kuanaramunda Citizen’s Committee launched an indefinite economic blockade in the area on Saturday.

Angry protestors staged a demonstration before the sponge iron factory in Kuanaramunda of Sundargarh district demanding appropriate measures by the district administration to check air pollution in the locality.

“The release of black smoke from the factory has been causing a health crisis in the area. A six-hour bandh was also observed by the local residents over the same issue earlier on February 21. But the district officials have failed to pay any heed to our issues”, an agitator alleged.
