Bhubaneswar: Sushama Sahu, who was elected corporator of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the recently held urban election as an Independent candidate, returned to BJD on Wednesday.
Sushama, who is an active leader of the ruling BJD, had contested from Ward No 2 of the Municipal Corporation. She had filed her nomination as an Independent candidate after being denied a ticket by the party.
She won the election to BMC, held on March 24, with a margin of 57 votes. Though she contested as an Independent against the official BJD candidate, the party had not taken any disciplinary action against her.
The corporator was welcomed back to BJD by the party’s organising secretary Pranab Prakash Das and legislator of North Bhubaneswar Sushant Rout at a function in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushama said, “I will work wholeheartedly for the development of my ward under the guidance and directions of BJD president Naveen Patnaik.”
