New Delhi: In another show of unity and solidarity, leading INDIA bloc partners Congress, Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress, along with other Opposition parties, will participate in a rally at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday to address the issue of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s deteriorating health while in judicial custody.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has repeatedly accused BJP of “conspiring to kill” Kejriwal in jail, referencing his medical report that indicates his sugar levels have dropped 34 times between June 3 and July 7.
“Congress, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress, DMK, CPI, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation will be there. We are in talks with two to three more parties,” AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said on Monday.
Kejriwal was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case related to the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy.
Though the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal interim bail in the money-laundering case, he remains lodged in Tihar Jail after being arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
On Monday, the Delhi High Court bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna reserved its decision on Kejriwal’s regular bail plea in the CBI case connected to the liquor policy.
CBI opposed the bail plea, describing Kejriwal as the ‘sutradhar’ of the case.
