New Delhi: India on Thursday strongly disapproved of US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and said it reflected “narrow-minded politics”.
“We have noted that she has visited a part of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that is currently illegally occupied by Pakistan. Let me just say that if such a politician wishes to practise her narrow-minded politics, that may be her business,” External Affairs ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
“But violating our territorial integrity and sovereignty in its pursuit makes this ours and we think the visit is condemnable,” added Bagchi.
Ilhan Omar is on a four-day visit to Pakistan. She called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Arif Alvi and also met ousted PM Imran Khan.
The 39-year Somalia-born American politician is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party.
