New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind will get tested for the novel coronavirus as he had attended a breakfast meeting with Rajasthan MP Dushyant Singh.
The MP had attended a party with celebrity singer Kanika Kapoor, who has tested positive for the disease.
Dushyant has self-quarantined himself along with his mother Vasundhara Raje, who is the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
As many as 96 MPs from UP and Rajasthan were present at the breakfast meeting hosted by the President on March 18 at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, Skill Development Minister Mahender Nath Pandey, Water Resources Minister Gajender Singh Shekhawat and Minister of State for Road Transport V.K. Singh were present at the meeting. It is unclear whether they will also undergo testing or not.
Singer Kanika Kapoor, who became the first Indian celebrity to test positive for the virus, has been accused of hiding her travel history to London and attending several parties in Mumbai and Lucknow. An FIR has been filed for negligence and disobedience to the order issued by a public servant.
The Taj Hotel in Mumbai where she attended a party has also been closed.
Kanika wrote on Instagram, “For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for COVID-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward.”
“Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well. I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10 days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago,” she added.
