New Delhi: A consignment of 5 lakh rapid COVID-19 testing kits has arrived in India from China.
More testing kits are on the way with India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Misri, tweeting: “A total of 650,000 kits, including Rapid Antibody Tests and RNA Extraction Kits, have been despatched early today from Guangzhou Airport to India.”
Testing across the country has been stepped up significantly during Lockdown 2.0 after the Union Health Ministry identified 170 districts across states as hotspots.
Four days remain before conditional easing of restrictions in specific areas will come into effect, as per fresh guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs.
On Thursday more than 30,000 samples were tested in the country — the biggest number in a day.
Now that fresh kits have arrived, the numbers are expected to go up significantly.
