New Delhi: A total of 2.85 lakh new COVID cases were detected in the past 24 hours, on Wednesday. The figure is 11 per cent higher than Tuesday. The positivity rate also saw a marginal rise as compared to Tuesday.
The test positivity rate — an indicator of the community spread — showed an upward trend from 15.52 per cent on to 16.16 per cent in the last 24 hours.
The country reported 665 COVID-related fatalities in the past 24 hours, slightly up from the 614 casualties recorded yesterday.
India’s active caseload currently stands at 22 lakh — 5.5 per cent of the total number of infections till date.
The recovery rate is 93.23 per cent, with 2.99 lakh recoveries on Tuesday. The country has witnessed 3.73 crore recoveries from the infection.
