New Delhi: The country’s COVID-19 tally has surpassed China to reach at 11th spot with 85,940 total infections. As many as 3,970 fresh cases and 103 deaths were reported on Friday, according to the Health Ministry.
While the recovery rate of patients infected from the virus has improved to 35 per cent, there are still 53,035 active cases. Besides, 2,752 people have succumbed to the virus.
Among the five most affected states, Maharashtra tops the list with 29,100 cases followed by Tamil Nadu (10,108), Gujarat (9,931), Delhi (8,895) and Rajasthan (4,727), the ministry reported.
Meanwhile, NITI Aaayog CEO Amitabh Kant tweeted to inform that the country has become the seventh country to have conducted two million COVID-19 tests. India’s ratio of positive cases to the total tests conducted stand at 4 per cent.
