Bengaluru: India scored its lowest-ever total in Test cricket at a home ground as New Zealand bowled the team out for 46 on the second day of the first Test match between both the countries at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. India’s previous lowest Test match score on home soil was 75 against West Indies in Delhi.
This was in fact India’s lowest Test total against New Zealand in 91 years, reports claimed.
Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke wreaked havoc with the new ball as the India players batted only 31.2 overs. It seemed that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first backfired. As many as five Indian batters returned without scoring a single. Rishabh Pant was the top-scorer with his 20 off 49 balls.
Looking back at India’s lowest Test score
India’s lowest Test score was 36 against by Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide in 2020.
