New Delhi: The COVID-19 tally in the country surged past 27 lakh to stand at 27,02,743 on Tuesday with the addition of 55,079 cases in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 876 more fatalities were reported overnight in the country, the Union Health Ministry informed.
On a positive note, the fatality rate has dipped below 2 per cent and stood at 1.92 per cent with total 51,797 COVID-19 deaths.
About 73.18 per cent (19,77,780) people have recovered, including 57,937 patients in the last 24 hours, while 24.91 per cent (6,73,166) are still under treatment.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,09,41,264 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 8,99,864 on Monday.
