New Delhi: The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, has revoked the security clearance of Turkish ground handling company Celebi Airport Services India Pvt. Ltd with immediate effect.
The decision has been taken in the interest of ‘national security’, according to an official order issued by the government on Thursday.
It’s a significant step amid strained relations with Turkey, which has openly backed Pakistan and criticised India’s Operation Sindoor which struck terror hubs in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation against the ghastly Pahalgam attack of April 22.
Celebi, a subsidiary of the Istanbul-based Celebi Aviation Holding, provides ground handling services at nine major Indian airports — Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Kannur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, Ahmedabad and Chennai — according to the company’s website.
