India ‘Shoot Out’ Pakistan To Win Hockey Asia Cup; Naveen, PM Laud Men In Blue

New Delhi: Rain played spoilsport in the blockbuster cricket clash between the traditional rivals, but India found a way to tame Pakistan in hockey.

Battling for supremacy in the inaugural Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup final at Oman’s Salalah, India came from behind to pip Pakistan 2-0 in the penalty shootout on Saturday night.

India, having trailed 2-3 at half-time, forced a shootout after levelling scores at 4-4 in regulation time.

India converted both penalty strokes, while Pakistan players missed theirs.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik congratulated the Indian boys and wished them continued success.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also applauded the efforts of the Indian team, and praised the unwavering dedication of the players.
